about

Black Feather Wings is the second release from duo-turned-quartet, Bourbon Princess. It was recorded at Hi-N-Dry, the loft/home studio of late Morphine front man Mark Sandman, in 2003, and is produced by Morphine saxophonist, Dana Colley, who also plays on a few of the tracks. Despite the fact that there is no 2-string slide bass anywhere on this record, it is considered by many hardcore Morphine fans as an extension of Sandman's legacy. Monique's slinky fretless bass playing, is backed by original Morphine drummer Jerome Deupree, and the seemingly effortless piano and guitar playing of Jim Moran. Add Colley's variety of reeds to the mix and you get a body of work that captures that low rock, film noir feel, while creating a sound that's truly unique. if you were to own only one Bourbon Princess record, this is the one to have.
